They are capable of carrying loads up to 50Kg (the closer to the feet of the longitudinal rails they are located the better the system will perform and less strain it puts on the longitudinal rails as the weight is distributed through the roof rail foot without creating a greater levering moment). They are non locking but clamp securely above and below the roof rails and sitting in between have the advantage of not adding much height to the system.
